Workers whose wages are being covered by the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme are receiving 80% of their wages, up to £2,500 a month, but are still paying tax on this, so will see their income fall.

The Government should exempt income paid through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme from tax, to protect recipients from having their income reduced as a result of being furloughed, and ensure they are not put into financial hardship.
