Require Regulation of Dog Groomers

The dog grooming industry (including training schools) should be regulated. A minimum qualification level enforced. Those already in the industry should meet a minimum standard. Some groomers have operated for 25 years + and it's not our intention to lose their much needed knowledge/experience.

With no regulatory body anyone can set up as a dog groomer with absolutely no qualifications or experience. There's an estimated 9.9 million furry friends in the UK and whilst millions of dogs are groomed without accidents every year, dogs have caught infections, been severely burnt and/or cut resulting in them being put to sleep. With an industry ever increasing to include practices such as feather extensions and fur-jazzles regulations are needed to protect animal welfare.
