Coroners are not currently required to collect details of prescription drugs people were taking at the time of their death or record deaths from prescription drugs.

Coroners routinely list the cause of death as “alcohol/drug related”. We want the Government to require Coroners to record details of prescription drugs people were taking at the time of their death and when prescribed medications played a part in a death. This would allow for accurate public records and statistics as well raising more awareness for safer prescribing practices.
