The Government must take racial injustice seriously. Recommendations by the Lammy criminal justice review and Angiolini review into policing, mental health and criminal justice must be implemented now. These reviews covered critical ground and their findings can no longer be allowed to be ignored.
We believe it is incontrovertible that BAME groups face discrimination: in education, in employment, and in the application of the criminal law. The Prime Minister has stated that feelings of injustice will in too many cases be founded on a cold reality. The Government has established a Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, but we believe that the Lammy and Angionlini reviews, which made recommendations to address racial inequalities, must be implemented immediately.
