Provide all Universities which are in need of bailout and financial support as a result of the COVID-19 crisis with Government loans in order to foster a quick and successful return to normality and full higher education. Do this without restriction or condition.
Universities are essential to a well-educated, successful, happy and wealthy populace. Further, they are centres for debate and for the creation of new ideas. Attempts by the Government to dictate what Student Unions can discuss or campaign for, or to dictate which subjects may be taught at Universities, must be avoided at all costs. The decision to impose conditions on Universities requiring financial assistance sets a dangerous precedent which threatens to stifle free expression.
