Although some NHS trusts provide stab vests to their road crews a lot of trusts and private providers do not provide stab vests as part of mandatory uniform. Frontline and patient transport crews routinely go into people's homes with little or no information about who is there. There could be people with mental health issues or someone who could be intoxicated which could make them violent to crews. For crew safety reasons stab vests should be made mandatory uniform for NHS and Private crews
