Require child car seat manufacturers to recycle their products.

Parents, carers and guardians are advised to buy new car seats for safety reasons. Car seats are expensive. We don’t want to throw them in landfill at the end of their life.

We want manufacturers to be required to make sure that every seat can be recycled, and pay for those costs of this.

We know that car seats can be recycled. This asks that the government makes manufacturers meet the cost of a recycling programme.

The government can recognise the child car seat as an expensive, single use, mixed material, legally required product, and as such can too recognise that it does not belong in landfill, that it should be recycled and make high level changes to ensure those who enjoy the profits of car seat purchases pay for their responsible recycling.
