Fund routine cardiovascular screening on the NHS for people aged 30 and over

Currently no routine cardiovascular screening programme on the NHS. Many people die each year from undiagnosed heart conditions. A routine heart screening programme should be offered to all over the age of 30 in order to prevent undiagnosed heart conditions and prevent early death from heart attack.

According to the BHF research into Heart and Circulatory disease July 2020 7.4 million people in the UK are currently living with heart and circulatory diseases. 27% of all UK deaths are caused by heart and circulatory diseases. 44000 people under the age of 75 die from heart and circulatory diseases each year. More than 100,000 hospital admissions are due to heart attack.

Therefore routine screening for heart problems should be considered as a preventative and potentially cost saving approach.
