When referring to the effect of PM pollution on health the WHO state "thresholds below which adverse effects do not occur have not been identified". Woodsmoke like tobacco smoke contains compounds that are carcinogenic. Whilst smoking is banned in some public places, woodsmoke pollution continues where people live, sleep, work, go to school and spend their recreational time. Banning woodburning in homes on the grid is a quick low-cost solution to cleaner, healthier air for everyone.
