All medical and care professionals to be trained in BSL

We would like the government to do is to fund British Sign Language training for all the NHS and care workers , so they can communicate with the deaf Community in their own preferred language. It will enable the Deaf Community to feel equal and not feel isolated.

Our mam has had an awful experience over the past seven weeks within hospitals and a care home. There has been no one who could communicate with her in her own preferred language (British Sign Language).

Where she felt isolated , frightened and did not know what was happening to her all of this could of been made much easier if everyone knew how to sign (at the basic level 1) to reassure her that everything is ok. It maybe too late for my mam but we need to stand together it’s 2020.
