With current government legislation, National Living Wage stands at £8.72/hour. Currently, personal allowance is lower than the amount a Briton working average hours would receive in a year - £13,966.75. Surely the point of a living wage is to ensure people are able to fulfil their basic needs - why should we not allow citizens to reap the full reward and lose out on roughly £300, which to low income earners could be crucial to their livelihoods?
