Government to Give More Power to SFO to Investigate Insurance Companies

Currently the Financial Ombudsman have no power to investigate complex complaints involving more than one party particularly when insurance claims have been failed due to the incorrect input by several parties. A new law is vital to enable the Serious Fraud Office to investigate all parties involved

The SFO to be given unlimited powers to gain access to all computer/manual records from all parties & look into:
• Insurance companies & other parties involved including experts
• How customers are pressurised to accept terms/sign agreements.
• The instructions given to experts
• The use of unidentified experts
• Customers being forced to take a lesser payment so that the insurers can discharge their responsibility
• What happens to the monies allocated for the claim
