The UK Government should seek a global agreement so that ALL countries agree to IMMMEDIATELY stop travel in and out of their country if they discover an epidemic - no matter the economic cost. Signatories should commit to giving medical, military and economic aid to nations facing such epidemics.
The 'Global Pandemic Firewall' – could help save Billions in money and Millions in lives and if it only delays a pandemic could buy countries more time to prepare. It appears that insufficient early action was taken to contain Covid-19. Whether we need it in 2025 or 2100 it is a sensible long-term plan that needs to be enforceable by law or by 'after the fact' sanctions.
