Families of victims and survivors of dangerous drivers often suffer extreme hardship as a result of these tragedies. High profile cases where drivers have been allowed to keep their licence using this defence, has diminished the deterrent threat of disqualification. This must be re-balanced: If being banned would cause you hardship, extreme or otherwise, you should drive with care.
