True public debate and freedoms can only take place if individuals' livelihoods are not threatened for words or actions their employer (or potential customers of their employer) believes is inappropriate. Increasingly, individuals are being fired, sanctioned and disciplined for entirely legal behaviour in their private lives.

This problem is often referred to as 'cancel culture' and it is harming public discourse, individuals economic freedom and democracy.
