Establish a more inclusive Honours system: “The Order of British Excellence”

We petition the Government to establish a new Honours System, with Awards of the “Order of British Excellence”. People who previously refused Honours should be offered an equivalent British Excellence Award, as should recipients of historically awarded Honours.

This would be a parallel alternative system or a replacement for the current system. Honours recipients shouldn’t need to debate whether or not to accept them. Help our Honours system better represent Britain and the Commonwealth, celebrate outstanding achievements, unify our communities and promote the pursuit of service and excellence.

A 2004 Public Administration Select Committee report, “A Matter of Honour: Reforming the Honours System" (paragraphs 114 to 116, 139 to 153), recommended such a system.
