To meet the Paris Agreement goals of keeping global temperature rises beneath 1.5 degrees, we need a rapid transition away from fossil fuels, based on far-reaching changes to every aspect of our lives. Companies that have a financial interest in slowing this process cannot be given a seat at the table. Petrochemical majors have stifled climate action for decades and they continue to do so today. Like tobacco companies, they must be prevented from laundering their reputations through sponsorship.
