Ensure the police offer victim support within 24 hours

The Government should create new requirements for police forces and fund increased capacity to ensure that officers or a family support officer check in on victims within 24 hours of reporting a crime, to offer support and advice on what happens next.

In too many cases it can take days for the police to check in with a victim, which can leave them feeling alone, unsupported and scared. As tax payers surely we have the right to have the support and advice from the professionals.
