This would make it easier to identify caravans by law enforcement that might be unlawfully possessed, when they are being towed by a car it is not registered to.
Number plates can be ‘cloned’ but it would take more effort to steal a caravan and ensure you have the correct make, model, and year of the vehicle towing it. Legitimate traders would be able to register their wares against tow vehicles.
