To prevent women being kept waiting longer than necessary at a time of physical and emotional necessity, midwives attending emergencies should be trained and permitted to safely drive using emergency lights to alert other drivers. The reduction of pain and the increase of safety for mothers and babies is important enough to put this measure in place.
