Fund improved care and support for children with disabilities and their families

I would like the Government to fund improved respite care and support to families with disabled children. The gap between respite and support at home compared to residential settings can be huge. Families like ours need hands-on support to enable us to continue with our caring role.

I have two children with disabilities, I have been awarded 4 hours each a week to employ a Personal Assistant to provide this care- it is noted that there is a nationwide shortage of care workers to deliver this care package. People like myself often face “burn out”, I used to work in a residential care setting and the amount the local authority was charged for providing this care was very high, my issue is there is a way to offer more support and prevent our children and families reaching crisis point.
