Hold a public competition to choose an official national anthem for England

The Government should hold a public competition to choose an official National Anthem for England. This could demonstrate how much more popular the likes of ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘I vow to thee my country’ are to the many.

It makes no logical sense for England to have no official National Anthem. I’ve read up on this before and many of these have been dismissed as the national anthem is ‘tradition’. If so, how would the public go about changing said ‘tradition’ as most of us evidently prefer other hymns?

As the many people don’t relate to the national anthem, the lyrics don’t even mention England in any way and the tune is boring in the opinions of many of us.
