Abolish the Upper Earnings Limit for National Insurance

Abolishing the Upper Earnings Limit should increase National Insurance revenue by billions of pounds a year.

Today, someone earning £1 million pays, in effect, 2,4% of gross income on employer NI, whilst someone on £25k pays 7.4%, on £50k 9.7%. An MP pays 6.7% on basic MP salary.

Abolition of the UEL would make contributions more equitable, ensure improved funding the NI system on a sustained basis, and reflect ability to pay.
