Require vets to scan microchips every time a pet receives medical attention

Microchip scanning should be enforced as compulsory for all pets seeking veterinary help. This would stop people being able to take pets off the street and to vets without having proof of ownership checked.

There are so many pets going missing or being stolen. We would like to see all pets checked for a microchip, whether the person seeking veterinary help admits to the pet having a chip or not. This could help ensure the information would correspond with owner / pet and help eliminate stolen pets. It would also force owners to keep their chip details up to date or get a chip done.
