The NHS is currently protected by security staff and its own in-house fraud investigation department, supported by the local Home Office Police Service as needed. By introducing a specialist NHS police service, all of our nations hospitals, staff and patients will be protected by its own dedicated in-house police service. This will help reduce the number of assaults on NHS staff and patients, make patients feel reassured by a police presence and reduce crime and the fear of crime across the NHS.
