Make it a legal requirement for people with HD to notify their children

Make it a legal requirement for people who have a family history or diagnosis of Huntington's Disease (HD) to notify their biological children. Children of people with HD have a 50% chance of inheriting the faulty gene and going on to develop HD themselves.

Currently, it is up to individuals whether they inform their children that they carry the faulty gene. If people choose not to tell their children that they are at risk, this can lead to the gene being passed on unknowingly.

With the correct information, people can not only prepare for their own future, if they wish to start a family, they can also choose fertility technologies to prevent them passing on the gene. This could enable HD to be wiped out in a generation.
