Introduce routine scoliosis screening in primary and secondary schools

To introduce routine screening at the start of the school year for scoliosis in primary and secondary school settings. Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is a change in the shape of the spine during the child’s growth normally linked to puberty. Early detection can effect the course of the treatment.

My daughter was diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis at the age of 12, x-ray showed a severe s-curve that resulted in her having a 14 hr operation. The consultant said if this had been picked up sooner bracing and scroth physio could have been used to stabilise the curve through growth.

Screening is easy and non-invasive, and many American schools already do this, and many cases are picked up at this point.
