Disqualify those with sexual offence convictions from standing as an MP

I want Parliament to disqualify those who have been on the sex offenders register for two years or more from being able to stand as an MP. It would set a good example by the House of Commons about the importance of leading by example.

Because although unlikely they’d win, it is possible for sex offenders to stand for Parliament and I think we should close that possibility out of principal for what they did.

My law proposes that anybody who’s been placed on the sex offenders register for two or more years should be automatically disqualified from standing for a seat in Parliament.

We believe the public would see this as a good move and it would be a good way for the Government to show it stands with victims.
