The Government should approve the Wider Service Medal to recognise the contributions of thousands of Armed Forces personnel deploying each year to Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In late 2019, the Ministry of Defence said it “formally acknowledges the changing character of warfare.” The medal would recognise the UK’s ongoing operations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Since 2020, the Ministry of Defence has gone silent on this issue, but with no explanation why.
Our Armed Forces deploy with pride and distinction to serve their Queen and Country. Let’s give them the recognition they deserve.
