The Government should create a new medal to be awarded to armed forces personnel involved in supporting civil authorities and safeguarding the public first, at personal risk, during the Covid-19 crisis.
The Covid-19 crisis is an obvious and extreme example, of the selfless commitment made by the armed forces when called upon, with many having worked in unfamiliar, potentially dangerous circumstances, sacrificing personal freedoms to support civil authorities and serve the public.
These efforts should be formally recognised by the public and state in the form of a medal.
