Children deserve protection from harm, to be gifted the best start to adulthood. For children in care, entering adulthood is naturally a challenging time. However, for many children in care who haven't acquired 'looked after child' status doors are closed, and accessing help is limited.

Children with Special Educational Needs, accommodated in Children’s Homes through an LA's Education Functions, are not guaranteed 'looked after' status in law. This means they do not have access to an Independent Reviewing Officer, do not have to be visited by a Social Worker, and cannot access most care leaving services.
