Create a statutory Mental Health & Wellbeing Policy for all schools & colleges

The Government should create a national mental health and wellbeing policy for schools and colleges that brings together all policies related to mental health and wellbeing, such as bullying and SEND, to ensure an aligned approach. All schools and colleges must be required to implement this policy.

Currently, schools are not required to have a standalone mental health and wellbeing policy. We want the Government to introduce a national mental health and wellbeing policy, which applies to all schools and colleges, which makes it clear the obligations schools and colleges have with regard to identifying mental health needs at an early stage, referring young people to specialist support, and working jointly with others to support young people experiencing problems.
