Set the date of the next General Election for 2 May 2023

We want the next General Election to be set for 2 May 2023, so the British people can vote then. The next General Election could be as late as 2025. We want the Government to guarantee this will happen on 2 May 2023 now, to give candidates time to prepare for the election.

Under the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act, Parliament will automatically dissolve five years after it first sits, unless the Prime Minister requests a dissolution from the sovereign. We believe a General Election cannot wait until 2025, or even 2024.
