Make anyone lawfully resident in the UK for five years eligible for ILR

We want the Government to extend eligibility to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) to anyone who has been lawfully resident in the UK for five years. Currently only certain visas give people rights to apply for ILR after five years, with many immigrants having to wait for 10 years.

Immigrants with temporary leave to remain contribute to the UK economy. Only certain people can apply for ILR after five years, others might wait for 10 years to apply under the 'long residence' route.

We want anyone lawfully resident in the UK for five years to be eligible for ILR. This will save many immigrants the cost of further visa renewals, and give them security.
