The Government should review guidance which says that face masks should be worn by all care workers and visitors in care settings. Managers of care homes should conduct their own risk assessments and then decide whether masks should be worn.

The disparity between general population, visitors to care homes and residents and staff of care homes is no longer justifiable. Our residents are struggling and staff are finding it hard to provide best care. Mask use is a literal barrier to making connections, communicating and sharing emotions. Residents should be involved in any decision-making around mask wearing in their care settings.
