Support Homes for Ukraine hosts to accommodate Ukraine Family Visa holders

The Government should permit and facilitate the matching of holders of Ukraine Family visas with hosts from the Homes for Ukraine (HfU) scheme, as this is not currently possible. Instead of having “homeless" status, they will get the 6+ month rent free benefit available under the HfU scheme.

Ukrainian family members are eligible to join their relatives in the UK but the government does not provide an accommodation solution. Their UK-based relatives may not have enough space and private accommodation is unaffordable. The only remaining option is to apply for 'homeless’ status on arrival, which is deterring many from travelling. The joined up and fair solution is to allow and facilitate access for these individuals to the HfU scheme – providing 6+ months rent-free accommodation.
