Change the law to allow legal supervised injection facilities to reduce deaths.

The uk is in an opiate crisis. There is a lack of support due to stigma or fear of legal action for drug users meaning people are using substances in unsafe environments, sharing needles and overdosing with out prompt medical assistance. This needs to end. We need to provide supervised facilities.

In 2020 there was 4,561 recorded deaths due to drug overdose/ drug poisoning. That’s a 3.8% increase from 2019. 49.6% so 2,263 of these deaths were related to opiates. - Office of national statistics. Supervised facilities would allow quick administration of the drug Naloxone and resuscitation to reverse these affects and allow support to cut down to be more accessible. The centres would not provide drugs just a safe space with support and resuscitation and antidote.
