Fund NHS to increase eligibility for the NHS Low Income Scheme (LIS)

The Government should fund the NHS to allow it to raise the £16,000 maximum salary criteria for the Low Income Scheme (LIS), particularly the HC2 certificate which provides ‘full help with health costs’, to match the full-time yearly equivalent of the national living wage.

People over 23 who are working full-time earn more than the £16,000 threshold for the LIS as the national living wage has increased. Inflation too has increased dramatically that it is now too difficult for many people to live comfortably on the living wage.
