Currently when airlines cancel their flights they tell passengers to make a claim for a refund. Airlines are able to cancel flights without warning. The airline should have the sole responsibility of the refund process and automatically refund the fare and taxes in a timely manner.

Parliament needs to discuss this as full protection for its consumers. Currently this gives consumers anxiety and airlines rely on passengers making a claim. This is neither good for the consumer or for the industry and puts many people off from booking a flight. In addition, consumers do not get the service that any reasonable consumer would expect.
