Introduce new rights to compensation and support if trains cancelled or delayed

Rail passengers whose trains are delayed or cancelled should receive compensation and support if their train is delayed or cancelled. This includes alternative travel, food and accommodation. We want new rights for rail passengers, equivalent to those for air travel.

It is outrageous that people can be left stranded at a station with no support if their train is delayed or cancelled. We don’t allow people to be stranded at airports so why train stations?

The lack of compensation and support is unfair, especially to people who do not have the funds to cover the additional expenses. Compensation should reflect the reality of the situation and more help should be given to people who are stranded. This could encourage more people to use rail travel for longer journeys.
