Extend 30 hours free childcare to NHS staff on Skilled Worker visas

NHS workers on Skilled Worker visas do not get 30 hours free childcare for their 3 to 4 year old as this is classed as a benefit. They should be entitled to this if they satisfy the other eligibility criteria.

Nursery costs per year can amount to around £14,000. Not providing this benefit can lead to economic hardship due to the expenditure involved, reduced economic productivity for one of the parents, often the mother irrespective of her skills, and also shortage of manpower for NHS.

It is also irrational not to fund free childcare for 3-4 year olds, when older children are allowed free schooling.
