Make child abusers and child murderers ineligible to appeal sentences

The Government should stop people who have been convicted of child abuse or child murder from being able to appeal their sentence. The children they abuse or worse still murder cannot change what has happened to them, so those convicted of these offences should not be able to appeal their sentence.

Many children are abused and murdered. We believe punishments are not enough of a deterrent to stop people, and sentences are sometimes reduced on appeal. If we could remove the right to appeal sentences for such cases it may better deter others. We can’t bring these children back, they can’t appeal the horrible way they were treated so why should those responsible be allowed to appeal their sentence.
