We want the Government to expand the offence of being drunk and disorderly to include disorderly conduct after having used recreational drugs, and not just while being drunk.

Since the introduction of the drunk and disorderly offence there has been a significant increase in the use of other recreational intoxicants, meaning that the current offence does not adequately cover many incidents of intoxicated disorderliness. The offence should be expanded so that police can arrest someone for this offence due to recreational drug use, and not just drunkenness, in order to better ensure public safety.
