Make coroners subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)

Coroners are public officers and should be accountable. It is in the public interest that Coroners be obliged to respond to freedom of information requests, so that they are transparent, and can be scrutinised and held culpable.

Although Coroner Services are appointed and funded in part by a public authority, they are separate legal entities from any council, and are not subject to FOIA.
