Ban the installation of digital billboards in outdoor public spaces

We want the Government to ban the installation of digital billboards apart from inside covered installations like airport departure lounges and inside railway stations. We believe they are totally inappropriate as street furniture.

They cause increased levels of light pollution, with oscillating lighting levels that many people find unpleasant. People who are particularly sensitive to bright lights and loud noises can be especially adversely effected. Glaring lights penetrate bedrooms thereby interfering with residents ability to sleep, even with curtains drawn. They can distract drivers, potentially increasing the risk of accidents.
