Change the legislation in s.228(7) of the Highways Act 1980

Section 228(7) of the Highways Act 1980 was created to allow local councils to adopt the maintenance of previously private roads. We ask the Government to amend section 228(7) of the Highways Act 1980 to exempt private drives from any road adoption process.

The definition of street can be any way, footpath, lane, or road, therefore private drives could be mis-categorised. We want this definition to clearly exempt any "way" that is private and being used as a drive.

The current loophole in the legislation fails landowners. What's next? The adoption of footpaths to front doors?
