End age discrimination in Universal Credit housing cost entitlements

A person of 24 can have the same housing costs as someone who is 35, but the 24 year is only entitled to the rent for a single room in a shared house.

People who get support with housing costs through Universal Credit are already on low incomes, without having to pay out on any rent that is not covered by their benefits. With the current price rises, everyone is struggling, meaning many people who are under 35 on benefits are struggling to pay their rent. This can mean people being forced into unsafe, and unfair living arrangements, and having to choose between food, gas, electric or a roof. This age discrimination to those under 35.
