Kurds in Iraq and Iran are facing oppression like the other countries already on the scheme. The process allows manifestly well-founded claims to be processed more quickly, meaning asylum can be granted more quickly so people can remain in the UK, safe from oppression in their home countries. Including Kurds from Iraq and Iran in the scheme will allow them to benefit from an easier process when applying for asylum in the UK.
