Give residential freeholders a Right to Manage communal areas

Currently freeholders have no statutory rights to challenge fees relating to communal areas around their property (eg. public roads and amenity spaces). We want the Government to give residential freeholders a Right to Manage communal areas, equivalent to those available to leaseholders.

There are hundreds of buyers unaware of the consequences of buying a house with covenants attached, tying them in forever to fees for communal areas.

Leaseholders have RTM. Freeholders should have the same rights to set up an RTM for communal areas should they so wish.
