Make it a legal requirement for salaries to be included in all job adverts

It's time we made putting salaries in all job adverts a legal requirement. Many job ads do not include any indication of pay. This lack of transparency is unfair to jobseekers, and can cause undue stress and help perpetuate inequality and the gender pay gap.

Jobseekers cite pay not being disclosed, alongside 'ghosting', as one of their top frustrations. Passing this law should help make the job market fairer and more efficient.

The UK's gender pay gap topped 14% in 2022. Including salary ranges in job ads would mean employers have to be transparent about pay.

While pay can be experience dependent, most companies work to budgets and industry benchmarks. They should provide an intended salary or salary range on all job ads to improve the process.
